Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter, has a new company that makes it easy and affordable to accept credit card payments. Those little white & square card readers are popping up everywhere these days, even at my favorite ice cream store Humphry Slocombe. Upon closer inspection I discovered that it involves a simple tape head reader – like the one I used to battle with in my old cassette player. It converts the swiped information into audio signals that can be fed into a mobile device. Very smart indeed. Great way for small businesses to avoid the big, greedy banks.
